I wrote GOLD! over a three-and-a-half-year time-frame. My wife Linda and I had moved from Western Australia near the end of 2016 to Ulverstone, in northern Tasmania. The plan was for me to concentrate on bringing to fruition an idea that had been rattling around in my head for some time. An idea that, to be honest, had sometimes kept me awake at night! The result is GOLD!
Prior to writing GOLD! I’d never written anything over 3,000 words and naively thought I was ready.
Unfortunately, I found myself sidetracked by other business ventures until 2019, when I made the decision to ditch all other projects and concentrate on finishing this, my first novel, once and for all. Around that time, we moved again; this time back to what had been my home state of South Australia. We currently reside just south of Adelaide.
When I’m not buried in my laptop or desk computer, you’ll probably find us fishing or walking on a nearby beach.

To answer many of you; yes, there will be other stories and spin-offs, including a prequel. For now, I’m busy getting my ducks in a row for the December launch.

Haha. No, I’m definitely not as shrewd (or sneaky) as Malcolm. I supposedly ‘retired’ in 2016 with the intention of devoting as much time as I could to my writing. I thought that by now I’d have several books out but I’ve learnt we can’t rush these things. My next book, as yet unnamed, is at the editing stage and I’m working on a couple of new ideas at the moment.
